Juror Raymond Meeks has made his final selections and we're now ready to kick off Portland Photo Month by screening our 2012 slideshow around town!
Of his edit, Meeks writes "The selection includes snapshot and vernacular photographs as well as professionally crafted pictures which capture the spiritual/cultural diversity of Portland’s inhabitants. The selection reveals the underbelly of our city; the scars as well as it’s “weirdness,” and what makes our town a beautiful place to live - bridges, sculpture, lush city parks and unique architecture. I selected portraits which embody a timeless quality while revealing character."
Our first screenings will be held later this week, Thursday night on the south side of the DeSoto building, and Friday evening at Newspace Center for Photography (most likely inside for this one). Also, later this week, the slideshow will begin running 24/7 on the television in the front window of Blue Sky gallery. Additional screenings will be held throughout the month. Dates and times will be posted/tweeted etc. as they're confirmed.
The list of selected photographers, as well as confirmed dates and times for screenings can be found right here.
